{"id":147,"date":"2009-11-06T11:44:50","date_gmt":"2009-11-06T15:44:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bigcreekgreenway.com\/?p=147"},"modified":"2009-11-06T11:47:57","modified_gmt":"2009-11-06T15:47:57","slug":"fall-on-the-big-creek-greenway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bigcreekgreenway.com\/index.php\/2009\/11\/06\/fall-on-the-big-creek-greenway\/","title":{"rendered":"Fall on the Big Creek Greenway"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/barnabywasson\/286920447\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Brilliant Fall Colors\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/109\/286920447_7afb98584d_m.jpg\" alt=\"Brilliant Fall Colors (Photo by barnabywasson on Flickr)\" width=\"240\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Brilliant Fall Colors (Photo by barnabywasson on Flickr)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Fall is my favorite season in Georgia.\u00a0 The weather is a great relief from the hot, humid Georgia summers.\u00a0 The low humidity, abundant sunshine, and moderate temperatures make it the perfect time of the year for outdoor activities.\u00a0 Throw in the brilliant colors as the leaves change and begin to fall, and there is no reason not to be outside.<\/p>\n<p>The Big Creek Greenway is a great way to spend that time.\u00a0 Unlike a lot of forests in Georgia that have been previously logged, the greenway boasts a large population of hard wood trees.\u00a0 This makes the colors along it that much more spectacular.\u00a0 Though most of the leaves have now fallen off of the trees along the Greenway, the Alpharetta portion is still a great walk with some amazing views.\u00a0 With a majority of trees bare, you get unobstructed views of the remaining leaves.<\/p>\n<p>This is also the time of the year where Big Creek River becomes more visible from the trail.\u00a0 Watch for fish, squirrels, ducks, geese, and especially deer.\u00a0 Without the leaves as cover the deer are easily visible and in abundance.\u00a0 One of my personal favorite spots to look for deer is <a title=\"Great place to look for deer on the Big Creek Greenway\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?f=d&amp;source=s_d&amp;saddr=&amp;daddr=34.041336,-84.297099&amp;hl=en&amp;geocode=&amp;mra=mi&amp;mrsp=0&amp;sz=18&amp;sll=34.041165,-84.297152&amp;sspn=0.004116,0.009071&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;t=h&amp;z=18\">near the parking lot<\/a> at Ethan Allen on North Point Parkway.\u00a0 There is a field behind Ethan Allen that I have spotted dozens of deer in over the years.\u00a0 If you&#8217;re really lucky, you may even spot a wild turkey or two.\u00a0 They have been spotted in the area before, but I have never been lucky enough to see them on the trail.<\/p>\n<p>So don&#8217;t miss out in these last days of fall colors before winter begins to settle in.\u00a0 While it may be too late to see the trees on the Forsyth portion of the Greenway, the Alpharetta portion is still vibrant.\u00a0 Get out and take a stroll on the greenway.\u00a0 Relax and enjoy the weather, scenery, and wildlife.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fall is my favorite season in Georgia.
